For this third annual ATV Trials comparison test, we united these five ATVs to compare engine power, handling, chassis and suspension, as well as comfort features and more. Since the design and marketing of these machines has as much recreational as utility use in mind, our testing involved a good deal of trail riding. We love to make these machines work, too, so we loaded their racks with weight and forced them through a field of rocks custom-built for 4×4 truck testing. We also weighed each machine on our Intercomp scales (the same equipment used by NASCAR race officials), and measured their acceleration with our Stalker Radar system.
For this annual event, we invite all the ATV manufacturers to come and ride with us, watch us test the machines, and be there if we break anything.
In all the tests we perform, our goal is to use these ATVs like you would, and then go a little further to find their weak points. And they all have one (or more). It’s just a matter of pushing each machine to best evaluate it. Continue reading
